The 31 year old shot stopper is a Republic of Ireland internationalist, making his international debut in March 2002. He has gone on to win 8 full caps.
He previously played for Hibs before leaving to join Stockport in 2003. He moved to Barnsley in June 2004 and has made 15 first team appearances.
He is expected to be in the squad for tomorrow's derby.
Born in Drogheda, County Louth in the Republic of Ireland, Nick Colgan began his career with his home town side before moving to Premiership Chelsea in August 1992 but in six years with the Blues he made only one appearance, against west Ham in March 1997. Whilst at Chelsea however, he was loaned out to a number of clubs where he gained first team experience. He was at Crewe Alexandria in 1993, Grimsby in 1994, Millwall in 1995, Brentford in 1997 and Reading in 1998. He left Chelsea and spent a season with Bournemouth in 1998-99 before joining Hibernian at the beginning of season 1999-2000.
It was whilst with the Edinburgh side that Nick made his international debut for his country in a 3-0 win over Denmark in March 2002, going on to total of eight international outings, the most recent against Nigeria in May 2004. The player spent a total of five seasons at Hibernian although in his final year with them, he spent the season with Stockport, again on loan. By the beginning of season 2004-05 he had joined Barnsley but towards the end of 2004 he was not getting a regular first team berth and accepted a move to Tannadice on loan until the end of the season. Still very much a part of the Irish international squad he will be looking to challenge Tony Bullock (also a former Barnsley keeper) for the number one jersey and stake a first team place.
