In the familiar 4-4-2 formation, the team lined up with Euan McLean in goal behind the now regular back four of Stuart Abbot, Garry Kenneth, Ross Gardiner and William Easton. In midfield, Greg Cameron returned to join Barry Callaghan, David Robertson and Kieran McAleenan and up front Joe Andrew was partnered with Nicky McDonald.
Against a strong wind, the young Tangerines created a hatful of chances with Callaghan and Andrew coming close before Cameron put United in front with a shot from the edge of the area that beat the keeper. Andrew doubled the lead, finish off a flowing move with a shot from twenty five yards bent round the advancing keeper.
In the second half, opportunities were fewer but United continued to control the game although a late lapse allowed Hibs to pull one back for a final score of 2-1 to United.
Tony was happy with the outcome and said afterwards, "The players have been giving some excellent performances over the last few games and again today, we should really have scored more than we actually did. Our build-up play was again outstanding but we have to get better at finishing and we must stay concentrated when we are in front to make sure the opposition don't get back into the game. After five games away from our first six, we are looking forward to the next three matches which are all at home."
