The trip Motherwell today saw three changes in midfield for United with Derek McInnes and Charlie Miller back in the side following injury and Stuart Duff replacing Billy Dodds who was on the bench. Craig Easton was also on the bench and Barry Robson dropped out through injury.
The first half was a quiet affair with neither side making much in the way of goal scoring opportunities but the home side had just the better of the exchanges without causing Gallacher any real trouble.
The highlight of the match came seven minutes after the break when Mark Wilson scored the only goal of the game with an absolutely fabulous curling strike from the right that left Marshall stranded. Other than that United created a couple of chances but could not add to their tally. Motherwell were unfortunate on more than one occasions but solid defending and two fine stops by Gallacher ensured the points went to Tannadice and United jumped into fifth spot.
