UNHAPPY TRIP NORTH FOR UNITED

3rd April 2004

Ian McCall played the same eleven who scored a narrow victory against Motherwell last week but, in a match in which the Tangerines never really got going, Aberdeen had the contest more or less won by half time.

The early stages of the match were fairly even but it became an unhappy afternoon for United when the home side went ahead with a quick double strike. Hinds drove home after twenty minutes and three minutes later McGuire glanced a header in from a corner kick. Two minutes from the break, the Dons went further ahead as Sheerin slotted home the third.

United improved after the interval with the introduction of Scotland, Samuel and Dodds but it was Aberdeen who came closest to scoring when both Hinds and Zdrilic hit the woodwork.
