DODDS AT THE DOUBLE FOR UNITED

13th December 2003

Billy Dodds scored a goal in each half today to give United full points against Livingston. He netted the first from a Robson free-kick, beating the Livingston keeper with a well-timed header. The second goal came after Robson found acres of space on the United left and when his shot from twenty yards rebounded from the post, Dodds was on hand to knock in the rebound.

Livingston looked dangerous in the early stages of the first half and Lovell missed a couple of good opportunities to put the visitors in front but as the game progressed United began to improve and had the ball in the net through Innes. However the goal was adjudged offside but United did take the lead just before half time and the first goal came after a spell of United pressure forced a series of free-kicks. In the second period Livingston had few chances and United had much more of the play and, although clear-cut chances were limited, the home side were the more creative and deserved the second goal and three points.

The win was United's first at Tannadice against the West Lothian side and the first time the Tangerines have recorded back to back home victories since April/May 2001.
