United suffered a 1-5 defeat to Celtic this afternoon in a Bank of Scotland premierleague match at Tannadice Park this afternoon. The match had kicked off at 12.30pm with the game being broadcast live for a pay per view audience.
Almost eleven thousand spectators were in attendance for a match played in sunny conditions with Ian McCall's side taking the game to the league leaders from the start. The Tangerines had the ball in the net within minutes of the kick-off through Billy Dodds only for Referee Kenny Clark to rule it out for an infringement in the penalty box. United then won a free-kick on the edge of the box that resulted in a corner and it the was start that the home support wanted as Ian McCall's men worked hard to improve the Club's home record, a record that had been much commented on in the build-up to the match. It was Celtic however who took the lead half an hour into the match through a Chris Sutton strike.
One goal behind at the break, United were still in the match at this stage but that was all to change within ten minutes of the second half. Two goals from Larsson and Sutton's second of the match put the Parkhead side on easy street as they went four ahead. McIntyre pulled one back for the home side, his third of the campaign, and then Sutton netted from the penalty spot for his hat-trick as Celtic ran out 1-5 winners.
