YOUNGSTERS SET FOR UNITED’S J LEAGUE

11th August 2003

Dundee United today launched the 3rd season of their highly successful J league for primary school children. When it was first launched, the league began with just one age group – under 8’s. Now there could be as many as 100 teams, each team having their own individual coach and players in the colours of famous European teams. Gordon Grady, Dundee United’s J League Manager said: “Dundee United has enjoyed a great reputation for developing young footballers and the J League is another great opportunity to enhance that reputation. Our aim is to take this non-elitist concept and turn it into a much bigger project with an initial target figure of as many as 800 children involved. Plans are also in the pipeline to spread the project much wider geographically to include 4 more major centres. We welcome children of all ability ranges, both boys and girls, and want them to have an enjoyable game of organised football every week under the auspices if Dundee United Football Club.” For further information on the J League telephone Gordon Grady on 01382 833166 or email dundee.united.fc@blueyonder.co.uk
