United's trip to Edinburgh today to take on Hearts ended in a 0-3 reversal with all the goals coming in the first thirty-five minutes. In the opening exchanges, United had the better of the play and when Hearts did go ahead it was somewhat against the run of play.
The opening goal came on twenty minutes when Hearts were awarded a free-kick and the ball was rolled to Stamp who fired a low shot through the wall and into the net with twenty minutes played. A minute later, a hopeful cross field ball was intercepted and headed into his own net by the unfortunate Wilson when he and Gallacher had a misunderstanding and finally, ten minutes before half time De Vries scored a third for the home side beating Gallacher from close range.
The second half witnessed an attempted resurgence by the Tangerines but they failed to cause the Hearts defence any real trouble and indeed it was the home side who almost snatched a fourth but Wilson cleared off the line.
