TRIPLE BOOST FOR DUNDEE UNITED

19th June 2003

Dundee United today gave their supporters a triple boost with the re-signing of Danny Griffin, the announcement of a new sponsor and the launch of new home and away kits.

Danny Griffin has signed a new one-year deal, disappointing several clubs who had shown an interest in the Northern Ireland internationalist.

The second boost comes in the shape of convenience store chain Morning Noon & Night who have signed a one-year, six-figure sponsorship deal to have their name on the playing kit.

The new home and away kits produced by TFG are set to be among the most popular ever launched by the Club when they go on sale later this summer.

Ian McCall, Manager of Dundee United said, "I am delighted that Danny Griffin has pledged his future to the Club. He is an adaptable player in both defence and midfield and his experience will be invaluable during next season's campaign."

Morning Noon & Night's one year sponsorship further demonstrates the Thompson family commitment to Dundee United as the convenience store chain, which has nearly 50 stores in Central and East Scotland, is owned by United Chairman Eddie Thompson.

Stephen Thompson, Marketing Director of MNN and a Director of Dundee United said, "When our proposed sponsorship with Emirates was delayed due to a number of factors outwith our control, we had to look very quickly for a new sponsor in the short term ensuring at the same time the Club did not suffer financially.

"Morning Noon & Night has proved to be the perfect vehicle for this as we were looking for ways to increase the MNN profile throughout Scotland. This sponsorship ensures that we will be on television and in the national press. For Dundee United it means that we were able to fill the financial shortfall caused when Emirates could not commit for the forthcoming season. It is a great deal for everyone concerned."

Bill Campbell, General Manager of Dundee United said, "The 2003/2004 season will represent the tenth anniversary of United's 1994 Scottish Cup win over Rangers. The new home strip pays homage to that great day with the re-introduction of tangerine shorts. This is the first time that this has happened since the Cup Final success. We plan to launch the new strips in the first week of August.

"With a new shirt sponsor and new home and away kits to match the team that Ian McCall is building we are looking at exciting times ahead. We recently launched our season ticket package and the signs are that we could be heading for record sales.

"Finally I would like to pay tribute to Telewest Communications for their outstanding seven year strip sponsorship of United. Their support has been greatly appreciated.

We are also delighted that we have extended our current kit deal with TFG Sports into Season 2003/2004, bringing our association with them to four years."
