Fourteen primary schools from throughout the area descended on Gussie Park today for a Regional Festival of Football as part of the four-year SFA/McDonalds Schools Programme.
Gavin Levey, SFA and DUFC Community Coach said, "Today's Regional Festival is very much a fun day, with schools playing friendly matches against each other and receiving coaching from SFA staff. One school will be randomly selected to attend the National Festival at Hampden Park, Glasgow in June.
"The SFA/McDonalds school programme, which is targeted at Primary 5 children across Scotland, is approaching the end of its first year. Teaching staff from the represented schools have attended and completed an SFA Level One coaching award, which they will use to their advantage to develop football further during school time. All members of staff who completed the course will also receive football equipment for use in their school."
