The young Tangerines found Rangers in good form at North End Park. Rangers were two up by half time with goals from Smith and Davidson. Rangers were the better side in the first half but Steven McGowan (PICTURED) was unlucky twice with goal attempts late in the half.
In the second half Graeme Holmes suffered the same fate as McGowan had in the first when the Rangers keeper blocked his shot. United kept up the pressure but were unable to break down a strong Rangers defence and the game ended with no further scoring.
