In an interview held at lunchtime today, Manager Ian McCall was positive about the team's chances of overcoming current injury problems in time for the next SPL match away to Hearts on Saturday 5th April 2003: "Whilst Derek Lilley picked up a slight hamstring strain in training today, the good news is that Russell Latapy came through first team training today and looked excellent. Furthermore, Mark Wilson is back and he is playing in the Under-21s tonight, which is great news for us. Billy Dodds is responding to treatment and he should be back in training by the end of the week so, fingers crossed, we may be at full strength for our match versus Hearts if we don't pick up any injuries in the meantime."
According to the United Manager, the Under-21s game tonight away to Partick Thistle will give fringe players an opportunity for match practice whilst another game for all the first team players is envisaged towards the end of the week on either Thursday or Friday. At the weekend, McCall is planning to watch a couple of games in England.
