United failed again to hold onto a home lead in this afternoon's Bank of Scotland Premier League match and in doing so, they remained at the foot of the League table.
Coach Paul Hegarty brought in David McCracken and Jamie McCunnie to his starting line-up. The Maryhill side gave a starting berth to new Italian signing Daniele Chairini while former Tangerine Jamie Buchan also started for the Jags. Another former United player, Paul Walker was on the bench.
The sides lined up as follows:
UNITED: GALLACHER, McCUNNIE, McGOWNE, EASTON, MILLER, LILLEY, McINTYRE, DUFF, THOMPSON, McCRACKEN, O'DONNELL SUBS: COMBE, PATERSON, SMART, HAMILTON, LAUCHLAN.
PARTICK THISTLE: ARTHUR, ARCHIBALD, BRITTON, BUCHAN, BURNS, CHAIRINI, CRAIGAN, HARDIE, MITCHELL, PATERSON, WHYTE SUBS: BUDINAUCKAS, GIBSON, MILNE, WADDELL, WALKER
United took an early lead in the 12th minute through a superbly headed goal from Steven Thompson, his sixth of the season, the breakthrough coming via a Stuart Duff cross.
The goal appeared to inspire United and they finished the half deservedly ahead.
