Alex Smith was looking forward to the first home match of the season commenting, "It is important that we stay focused on the task in hand, that is quite simply to take all three points. It goes without saying that Kilmarnock will be a very tough team to overcome but I hope that we will be able to achieve a win with a performance that pleases the fans. The United support have already proved their loyalty this early into the season by the large number that turned out for last week's trip to Firhill and with the 4,000 who came along to the Club's Open Day last Sunday. This could be the home debuts for Kevin McGowne, Arnar Gunnlaugsson and Allan Smart and I hope that they enjoy it and that the supporters enjoy what they see."
United have a full squad to choose from while Kilmarnock will have recent signings Gary Locke and Jose Quitongo available. The visitors have injury concerns over Peter Canero, Chris Innes and Stevie Murray but will be boosted by last week's draw against Rangers.
This afternoon's match kicks off at 3.00pm and is pay-at-the-gate.
